VOICE 5: DEAD MEXICO RADIO - MODAREC special

"Dead Mexico Radio features the cream of underground electronic/experimental music from unsigned artists and net labels."

Although on a well deserved break at the moment, our good friends DEAD MEXICO RADIO release monthly compilations or mixtapes over on myspace, and have done since 2007. Several tracks from the MODAREC roster featured on the early shows and back in 2008, we were kindly asked to compile a show made up exclusively of MODAREC artists. This was a chance for us to visit our archives as well as creating brand new music and skits for the show.

Dead Mexico have recently released a "Chosen Ones" compilation featuring their favourite tracks over the last few years and MODAREC is pleased to report that
RYOGA, FULCRUM4, TELEMIKUS, WHEAT-A-BEAT, FOXYMORON and THE JAFFA KID all make an appearance. We will keep you posted on any further activity from the Dead Mexicans...

VOICE 4: MODAREC'S SYNKRONI2EDSLEAZE2 MIX 2002 - From the archives.

MODAREC'S SYNKRONI2EDSLEAZE2 MIX 2002 by modarec

This is a live dj set from MODAREC mixed with vinyl, on 2 X Technics 1210's onto Minidisc (remember those?) and then transfered to mp3 back in 2002. My mind is too hazy/dead to recollect any further details except it was a house party in Manchester. There's probably a few fluffs in there and i think it might be this set where some tool bumped the decks and caused a few seconds of dead air. I could have edited it out on Soundforge but it wouldn't be in the true spirit of DJ'ing so its a full set warts and all.

As for the tracklisting, theres a lot of Vitalic, Felix Da Housecat, Int. DJ Gigolos, Zombie Nation , Peaches, David Caretta etc etc. If theres any specific tracks anyone wants the name of, drop me a comment and I'll try my best to remember. These tracks were from golden age of the electro/electroclash boom, well before the genre lost it's way and had pop/pap acts copying the Italo basslines and synthesized arps.

It's strange to hear how relevant most of this still sounds now. Not sure if thats good or bad, it could mean the genre hasn't really moved on in nearly 10 years or it could mean that these tracks were simply ahead of their time. Vitalic's "Poney pt 1." blew me away back then and still continues to do so now, I don't think any other electro/techno track has come near it in 9 years and I can remember buying 2 copies when it was released just so I could give a copy to THE JAFFA KID. In true fanboy style I now have 3 copies of the original pressing, the remastered version of the e.p. just didnt sound the same . Anyway this is the first of two sets, the second will be posted at a later date. Enjoy..............

If anyone wants a download of it, ask and it will be downloadable for a limited period.

VOICE 3: MAXIMO PARK - MODAREC/RYOGA remixes part 1

I Haven't Seen Her In Ages (Fulcrum 4's Another Ryoga Mix) by ryogapower

Here is 1 of 5 remixes submitted by members of our very own RYOGA for the recent Maximo Park remix project. FULCRUM4's version of "I Haven't Seen Her In Ages" exchanges the bittersweet jaunt of the original with a hurtle through reverbed throbs, klanging snares and a wailing synthesizer. The full set of RYOGA versions can be found here and at Maximo's own site here. FOXYMORON's version of "Overland, West Of Suez", also featured on a compilation CD
of submitted remixes which was given away with this month's NARC magazine.

VOICE 2: RYOGA - Hamstrung Dragon

**INTENSITIES - KITTENS - DIGITAL IMPLOSIONS**
Blistering ear-plosions from RYOGA as featured on NARC MAGAZINE's recent 50th Issue compilation CD.

VOICE 1: TELEMIKUS - From Our Own Planet

**DESTROYING YOUR CITIES TO THE RHYTHM OF STEEL WING BEATS**
Watch the skies for new TELEMIKUS.
